A Perspective of Time
--
The economic drive to cheap labor and cheap products will continue to reveal unintended consequences. It may reveal the consequence of the economic destruction of the American middle class.
There can be no doubt that all of this was considered by elite decisionmakers well before America was taken over the breaking point, and Chinese, Indian and Eastern European labor was sold into slavery by their respective governments.
And environmental destruction was at the same time hidden from public scrutiny by way of the blinders of the desire of getting something for nothing.
All of this will be buried in the quickly forgotten past and thus future generations will be prevented from learning from our mistakes. Until, that is, some future historian digs out the truths, and reveals the reasons that the world order of the twentieth century collapsed.
Of course by then the descendants of those making their fortunes today will be in charge of everything then, and will be the rich and famous, and therefore will be idolized for being the rich and famous and their own rapaciousness will be as unexamined as today’s oligarchs are.
And life goes on with no improvement. And those who have evolved will look down on our benighted existence and shake their heads in wonder at how stupid we were.
